Overview

The term “urinary incontinence” refers to uncontrollable urine leaking or urinating unintentionally. This is more prevalent in women but occurs more commonly in older women. There are several reasons that cause one to accidentaly leak urine. A few include -stress (having a weakened pelvic muscle), -an overactive bladder (OAB)- which is caused by damage in the nerves of the bladder, or – overflow- the inability to empty your bladder completely, leading to dribbles.

Symptoms

  • Uncontrolled urinary leaks triggered by sneezes, coughing, or laughter
  • Urge to urinate followed by pee leakage
  • Bedwetting
  • Constant urinary leaks
  • Pressure or spasms in the pelvic region resulting in a strong desire to urinate
  • Regular urination (over eight times daily and or twice at night)
